When will we learn?

In November of 2008, the balance of power in our federal government shifted.  I, for one, grieved when that happened.  We now have a majority of Democrat Representatives, Senators and Presidency.  While this concern may seem trivial, we should all examine the agenda that is being thrust upon us.

This agenda is not widely reported on the news.  On the contrary, it seems our “unbiased” mainstream news sources are anything but unbiased.  I believe in everyone’s right to their own personal opinion.  I also believe in everyone’s right to debate.  But I firmly believe that in order to have an effective debate, everyone should know why they argue what they believe.  I know from personal experience that many, many (too many) people regurgitate what is reported by their “trusted” news sources.  They don’t take the time to examine the red herring being waved under their noses, even though they must smell something fishy.  If our “trusted” news sources were actually reporting in unbiased ways, shouldn’t they dig deep to find out the root of all stories from all sides.  However, what I see instead is reporting of only one side of a debate, which actually means it isn’t reporting a debate at all.  It is only giving you the sales pitch from one side.  I could name names and sources, but I would rather you think for yourself and examine what is being reported and compare it to common sense.  I’m willing to bet that you’d find the truth is easier to ascertain and digest.

Back to the agenda I’m worried about.  While there is validity to the claim that this President inherited a financial mess (at least to some degree), one doesn’t have to look far to see who pressured the former President into propagating the ever increasing mismanagement of Federal funds to find that the current President’s own political party was at the root of the problem.  It was pressure from Democrats that forced banks to make home loans to those who could not afford to repay.  It was pressure from Democrats that set up the failures of many banking and lending institutions.  It was pressure from Democrats who grossly misrepresented the seriousness of the crisis, causing panic in order to gain power.  Shame on you!!

I’m not pleased with Republicans, either.  I’m conservative to the core, but that doesn’t make me Republican.  I’m ashamed of the spineless leadership that has developed within the Republican Party.  Who decided that the Republicans should represent the moderates of America only?  Whatever became of right and wrong?  Woe to us all!!

“Programs!  Get your programs here!  You can’t tell the players without a program!”

It has gotten to the point where you can’t tell Republicans from Democrats.  How is this a “two party” system?

Now everything is a crisis.

The economy (which is in the mess it’s in because of government manipulation).

The healthcare system is still the best in the world, but only until the government takes control.

And since when is the government authorized to take over private industry…can you spell GM?

Global warming (because we all know that man is responsible for the natural cycles of warming and cooling).

Congress rushes to pass legislation to “fix” these problems, but the bills are typically more than a thousand pages long with little “amendments” slipped in during the wee hours of the morning.  Did you know that one of the provisions of the global warming bill recently passed the House of Representatives (remember me mentioning the early morning amendments) states that If you want to sell your home, you must subject your property to a federal inspector to determine if your house is “green” enough.  If they find anything out of compliance, you will be forced to make any and all changes to bring it back into compliance before you can sell the property (right down to the type of light bulbs you use).  Cute, huh?  If any legislator tells you he or she read the bill before they voted on it, don’t believe it.  Nobody, but nobody reads that fast and digests all the legalese contained within the document.  What happened to the President’s pledge to post every piece of legislation for five days before it would be voted on?  There seems to be a lot of noses growing in Washington D.C.

Can you believe that these leaders who are so desperately trying to convince you that only they can fix the economy couldn’t even balance their own checkbooks?  Remember the House post office scandal?  Representatives were afforded the privilege of cashing personal checks at the House Post Office and when the checks bounced (that’s right…bounced), they weren’t held accountable.  What happens if you should bounce a check?  If you don’t redeem it promptly, you get a visit from law enforcement (as you should).  The arrogance of our federal leaders is astounding!  The rules they pass don’t apply to them!

Our founding fathers risked life, liberty and their fortunes to secure our freedom.  Their belief was that minimal government involvement in day to day business was best.  However, our current leaders would like you to believe our Constitution is a “living” document which evolves as our needs change.  Balderdash!!!  Our needs haven’t changed!  Only the way to fulfill our needs has changed.  We are a nation of laws led by lawless leaders.

Speaking of our founding fathers, do you know that all of our founding fathers would probably be classified as terrorists by this administration?

When will we learn that government exists for us, not vice versa?

I found this recording of a high school student's entry into a VFW scholarship contest.  I like it, but then I would.  It's my daughter.
